"I shall work for an India in which the poorest shall feel that it is their country, in whose making they have an effective voice, an India in which there shall be no high class and low class of people, an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony. There can be no room in such an India for the curse of untouchability or the curse of intoxicating drinks and drugs. Women will enjoy the same rights as men. This is the India of my dreams.”

M. K. Gandhi

In November 1967 Bihar Government handed over the present site of the Museum which already had a huge white statue of Gandhiji, inaugurated in June 1965.
Subsequently, a new Picture Gallery containing photographs was constructed followed by a Library Hall, Conference Hall and Gandhi Sahitya Kendra. In October 1999 a 256 Sq Ft. mural, entitled ‘Hindustan Hamara’ was unveiled followed by a ‘Gandhi-Tagore Mandap’ in December 2006 and ‘Satyagraha-Shatabdi Smarak-Mandap’ in January 2007.
