  • Feedback
"I shall work for an India in which the poorest shall feel that it is their country, in whose making they have an effective voice, an India in which there shall be no high class and low class of people, an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony. There can be no room in such an India for the curse of untouchability or the curse of intoxicating drinks and drugs. Women will enjoy the same rights as men. This is the India of my dreams.”

M. K. Gandhi

Financial Management
  • Being managed by a Registered Society (an NGO), the Museum is run on the income from financial contributions/donations.
  • Since 1971 till 1996, the main financial support was being provided by Gandhi Smarak Nidhi in the form of a Corpus Fund of Rs. 3.13 million, the interest on which was available for the expenditure. With the passage of time, the financial position of the Museum suffered badly due to inflation. In 1996 and again in 2007 Government of India came to its assistance with a Corpus Fund of Rs. 50 million each time.
  • After 2007 only a token amount is being received from Gandhi Smarak Nidhi.
  • Contributions/donations to the Museum,  project based or otherwise, are welcome. Donations are entitled to tax exemption under Section 80G(5)(VI) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
